Police have identified Steven Harold Smith, 50, of Aromas, as the suspect in a shooting at the Lode Street Wastewater Facility off 26th Avenue in Live Oak that left two people dead, including the suspect, according to Sheriff's Sgt. Fred Plageman.

Mike Sotelo, 41, a supervisor at the facility for more than 10 years, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The third victim, Smith's wife, Tamara Marie Smith, 45, a maintenance worker at the plant, has been transported to an undisclosed hospital with grave injuries, police said.

The couple was married, but separated. Tamara Smith lives in Santa Cruz.

Steven Smith, who worked at a pump station for the sanitation district, lives in Aromas.

Sotelo and Tamara Smith were shot multiple times, according to officers at the scene.

Police said they recovered two handguns at the scene.

Two coworkers said the shooting appeared to be the result of a love triangle; police confirmed that they're investigating the incident as a love triangle gone awry.

One of the employees described the shooter as a quiet man who kept things inside.

Deputies responded to a call of a shooting shortly before 7 a.m. and found three victims at the scene, Plageman said.

One neighbor, Regina Lackore, said she heard screeching car wheels, heard at least two shots and saw smoke out her back window.

Police said Steven Smith shot Sotelo inside the building. Tamara Smith left the building and tried to drive away, but was shot and crashed her PT Cruiser into other cars outside the building.

More than 30 law enforcement officers descended on the scene.

The Lode Street facility has about 40 employees who report to work at 7 a.m., then for the most part go off-site to work. They were all given the day off.

There were numerous witnesses to the shootings; they have all been taken off scene to be interviewed as witnesses by Sheriff's Department. The facility has gone on a holiday/weekend schedule, and no interruptions in service or problems with the facility are expected.

California Highway Patrol, Capitola Police, Central Fire, Sheriff's Department and State Parks officers all responded to the scene.

‘You All Don’t Understand…We Are People Too’

During a C-SPAN appearance this morning, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol was confronted by a military wife living in Ft. Hood, TX, who called in to criticize him for “pushing the war.”

The woman explained the incredible stress of having her husband deployed in Iraq:

I’m sure when your head hits the pillow you have a luxury of dreaming about anything that your mind will allow you to dream about… I sleep with the phone under the pillow. My kids — if someone rings the doorbell, instead of normal kids they freeze. And they’re in elementary school. You all don’t understand. We are military people but we are people, too. And the stress that we are under is tremendous.

While she spoke, Kristol appeared uncomfortable, looking downward and scratching markings into a piece of paper.

The caller also told Kristol that he was a “liar” for claiming that it’s “mostly the insurgents attacking us,” versus members of the Iraqi population. “They don’t want us there,” she said. “I understand you truly believe what you’re saying but it’s not working. We can’t want it for them more than they want it for themselves.”

Kristol offered little in response, using the caller’s criticism of the stress she’s under to advocate for a larger Army. He concluded, “The strains on family life are obviously very real…and I hope we do more to deal with that.”

CALLER: Yes, thank you. I do listen to the discussion. I’m a military wife. My husband on the third tour to Iraq. I just want to if I could look Mr. Kristol and people like him from the American Enterprise Institute and the people pushing the war, I’m sure when your head hits the pillow, you know, you have a luxury of dreaming about, you know, anything that your mind will allow you to dream about. I’m waiting — i sleep with the phone under the pillow.

My kids — if someone rings the doorbell, instead of normal kids they freeze. And they’re in elementary school. You all don’t understand. We are military people but we are people, too. And the stress that we are under is tremendous. So I make a proposal before I have to leave the air. If this war is as important as you on the right and the hawks say it is, and if it is truly essential to our vital interest to do this, then institute the draft so we can have a break.

We are at the breaking point. I just had to counsel a friend last night who has had a solid marriage for 14 years because their marriage is falling apart because they’re military and haven’t lived under the same roof together in five years. We’re people. We can’t keep up the stress level. Our children can’t keep up the stress level.

The spouses left behind can’t keep up the stress level and all you all keep saying, you just called my husband and all the troops a liar saying it is mostly the insurgents attacking us. Because when I do get the luxury of speaking to my husband, what I’m hearing is Iraqis let us through the gates, the security forces let us through and 30 minutes after we pass through, they’re laying down IEDs to blow us up if we come back through. They don’t want us there. I understand you truly believe what you’re saying but it’s not working.

We can’t want it for them more than they want it for themselves. Please bring my husband home, the brave troops. We are tired. We’re really tired.

KRISTOL: Well, look. the army some of us that argue — first of all, I respect the service of those who’ve been over there. I just had dinner last night with close friends whose son just came back from Iraq and it is tough duty and now we’re on second and third tours. some of us argued for a long time before 9/11 and very much after 9/11 that the army and marines were too small for the world we are living in. the foreign policy obligations we are likely to have to impose for the all-volunteer military and finally we are increasing the size of the army and the marines and paying a price for that in terms of longer tours and people going back a second and third times and the strains on family life are obviously very real and obviously it’s a tough job over there. so i hope we do more to deal with that.

Rudy Giuliani has been caught in a bizarre lie about WTC 7, in which he claims the building collapsed in stages over a sustained period of time, when in reality the structure fell in under seven seconds. Giuliani also reveals that he expected the twin towers to collapse but "not in the way they did."

Giuliani was a speaker along with former Oklahoma City Mayor Ron Norick at an April 19th event held at the Oklahoma City Museum and National Memorial in Ahoma City, Oklahoma. The entire video can be viewed here courtesy of C-Span, but the pertinent clip is embedded below.

Giuliani is asked if he had expected the twin towers to collapse on 9/11. Here is his response.

"Yeah, but not in the way they did."

"It occurred to us all that they might ultimately collapse over….the way buildings usually collapse, which is in stages."

"It looked like at some point the top of the building would come off, and then maybe the middle of the building and then maybe there'd be a shell left….the way number 7 came down 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon - over a period of time - but the idea that it would implode, the implosion that took place, I actually didn't realize that until much later."

Building 7 collapsed in just 6.5 seconds - videos of the structure before its collapse show the building fully intact and suffering sporadic fires across a limited number of floors.

It has since also been proven to a reasonable degree that the smoke seen emanating from the area of Building 7 was mostly coming from Buildings 5 and 6, which had taken the direct brunt of the collapse of the twin towers and were completely ablaze.

WTC 7 imploded at near free fall speed and fell in its own footprint, barely even blocking the adjacent road. Giuliani's emergency command bunker was located in the building but he and his crew evacuated just before the collapse of the twin towers. Building 7 had been structurally reinforced to compensate for numerous floors to be taken out without compromising the integrity of the building.

For Giuliani to claim that Building 7 collapsed in stages is completely bizarre and totally inaccurate. One has to wonder if he is intentionally attempting to mislead with such a wildly false statement.

Is Giuliani attempting to re-write history in an attempt to deflect clearly documented accusations that Building 7 was brought down by a controlled demolition?

In addition, his claims that the collapse of the twin towers, though not in the fashion they eventually fell (controlled demolition), was expected, completely contradicts the words of the very people who designed the World Trade Center, who are on the record on multiple occasions stating that the towers were designed to absorb airliner impacts without collapsing.

No steel framed building had collapsed from fire damage in history until September 11 2001 when three fell within the space of seven hours, so for Giuliani to have both expected the collapse and have received a warning immediately beforehand is highly suspicious.

In a related story, John Kerry's comments that Building 7 was deliberately demolished during an Austin Texas speaking event have gone viral since the You Tube video was posted and featured in our story on Monday. Despite receiving massive traffic, Google does not list the Prison Planet.com article in its search results nearly two days after the piece was first posted.

Just one version of the video has already received over 42,000 views and rising and features in multiple different You Tube most popular categories. The clip is currently the 5th most discussed video on You Tube today.

Calls to Kerry's office for a further clarification on his comments were not returned.

We wrapped up our Midwest Tour in Peoria yesterday and William got great local TV coverage in Eau Claire Friday. Madison's WISC-TV covered the talk at the University of Wisconsin Saturday (I haven't seen the coverage yet).

Paul feels this early painting "may" have been a precognition of 9/11.

"When I was there, there were these engineers from Saudi Arabia that were actually part of the Bin Laden Construction Company. Yamasaki had worked with them and built them up. They started in Arabia and worked for Yamasaki who was doing all kinds of things like airports, schools, hospitals, you know, very large projects, and so he just brought them over. And so I see these guys, you know, these swarthy looking guys come around and some of them were asking me "Where would you put demolition devices?" and I said, "Well, I'm not really an engineer, but I'm curious as to know why you would put things in it to demolish it? And it isn't even built!" It was so strange to me… and he said "Well that's they way things are going now." So, in a certain sense the reason why they came down is because the Bin Laden Construction Company knew exactly where all the places were, that they put demolition devices." - (39:55 minute mark)

Placement of 9/11 explosives were planned decades previous?

Paul Laffoley, one of the architects who worked for Emery Roth & Sons, one of the architectual firms that designed the WTC, dropped a bombshell during an interview on February 21 [12th - ED], 2007 with Mike Hagan on Radio Orbit.

About 40 minutes into the interview, he says that, when he started working with Roth on the design of floors 15-45 of WTC2, Saudi Arabian engineers were there who had been brought over by the chief architect of WTC to New York from the Bin Laden Construction Company in order to collaborate with his firm. Some of them asked him where he would put demolition devices. Evidently, these sites were designed into the towers!

Laffoley said that buildings in the early 1960s and 1970s in New York were built to be brought down by controlled demolition. Then he asserted that WTC1, WTC2 & WTC7 were in fact brought down by controlled demolition on 9/11! He seemed to think that the terrorists could have done this because the Bin Laden Construction Company would have known the location of the special places designed for explosives to be placed.

We may excuse Laffoley's naivety for thinking….that al Qaeda terrorists blew up the towers. The crucial point is that he said categorically that the towers at WTC had been designed to be brought down by controlled demolition with the provision of strategic points built into the towers, where demolition charges would be placed once the decision was taken to blow them up.

As an architect who helped design WTC2, he is a credible source, and his statement cannot be lightly dismissed as disinformation, for whoever destroyed the towers on 91/11 would hardly want him revealing publicly that the towers had been designed to be demolished eventually. His revelation has enormous implications, of course, for the plausibility of the towers being destroyed by some unconventional form of controlled demolition.

now, you'll have to work your way thru the (IMO) bad music in between segments - but Laffoley claims to have been ON THE DESIGN TEAM OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER BUILDING. he claims that most buildings in manhattan are built to be taken down, ie: with demolition charges inside from the getgo. he also said those involved with placing the demo charges were the bin laden group from saudi arabia.

and i thought to myself - woah, that was the first time i've ever heard this claim, and i've exposed myself to as much information as possible. i have no reason not to trust what he says and i do not know him personaly, but he seems facinating, i love his art and i like the way he thinks. i'd love to know if anyone else has more infomation on this.

The City Can Change Your Life 1962 Paul feels this early painting "may" have been a precognition of 9/11. The painting reads from right to left, like text in arabic & the clock reads 9:04 (presumably a.m.) Along the bottom are the astrological signs in reverse order. This painting was done way before Paul's later employment as a designer on floors 15 to 43 in the North tower of the Wrold Trade Center. He was fired for suggesting that 17 structural bridges be built to connect the towers, provide access between buildings & extra support. Almost exactly 40 years later Laffoley was one of a number of architects who submitted designs accepted for the competition to plan the Freedom Tower. Laffoley took his inspiration from the work of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. His conception was to plan a gigantic hotel in the style of Gaudí's Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona. You can see Paul's submission in the archives of the Official WTC memorial website.
